Learning Should Always Be Fun
We aim to create a warm and positive environment that is as close to home as possible. This means working in partnership with parents regarding their child’s care and education; to create a programme of activities that will promote the development of independence, self-respect and awareness of others as well as allowing children to develop at a rate which challenges but does not overwhelm.
We provide care for a maximum of 12 children aged from birth up to 2 years old, 15 children aged from 2 years up to 3 years old and 44 children aged from 3 years but not yet attending school.
We always meet, but often exceed the following staffing levels:
- Up to 2 years old, 1 member of staff to 3 babies
- 2-3 years old, 1 member of staff to 5 toddlers
- 3-5 years old, 1 member of staff to 8 children
At Buchanan Nursery, our rooms are divided as follows:
Babies & Toddlers
Our ground floor is dedicated to very young children between the ages of 6 weeks and 3 years old. The baby/tots suite consists of two rooms which accommodate children up to 24 months and there is a further tweenie room for 2-3 year olds. All children are given plenty of opportunities to learn, rest and play. We provide nappies, bottles and formula milk as part of our service.
Pre-schoolers
On our first floor, we aim to prepare pre-school children for the change to formal learning. This allows children who have attended nursery since the early months of their life to develop different perspectives and goals.
We run a variety of trips throughout the year (some of which will incur a small additional cost). These can include a day out at the seaside, trip to the theatre or in the winter, a special visit to see Santa or even go sledging.
